Education Program Manager

Compensation: $1000/month stipend. This position does not provide benefits.

Location: Hybrid in-person and remote; must reside in the Pittsburgh region

JOB SUMMARY

HAP is seeking an independent contractor to lead our Education programming.  The primary responsibility of this role is executing on all aspects of our Youth Steering Committee (YSC). Additional responsibilities may include working with law enforcement/humane officers to coordinate trainings and seeking and planning new education opportunities with youth and the community related to a multitude of our campaign themes.

The YSC aims to engage high school students in animal welfare and environmental advocacy, empowering them to become leaders in their communities.  The contractor will work closely with HAP staff to develop and implement the YSC’s activities, fostering a positive and impactful experience for all participants.

HAP has an established Law Enforcement training campaign and has successfully led classes for law enforcement from the greater Pittsburgh region. The contractor would be responsible for creating new opportunities for trainings and keeping the current training schedule active, while nurturing existing relationships with both instructors and potential trainees.

Finally, HAP desires to expand our education programming with more regular opportunities for both children and adults on topics such as single use plastic reduction, veganism, pollinator habitats, companion animal issues, wildlife, and more.

The time commitment would be approximately 8-10 hours a week. Some daytime hours will be required. Not all working hours will need to be performed between 9-5 Monday-Friday, but some meetings certainly will.  The YSC meets monthly, in-person on a Saturday morning.

This position is currently being contracted with a start date in summer 2024. We intend for the contract to be extended indefinitely, dependent on funding.

Interested applicants should submit a resume and cover letter to: Natalie.A@humaneactionpittsburgh.org.
