Pigsburgh Squealers Rescue! Pigsburgh Squealers is a pig rescue near Pittsburgh that provides a safe environment for pet pigs that are rescued from situations of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. They strive to educate the public about pigs as pets, advocating that compassion for animals is a basic moral necessity. Pittsburgh Vegan Society

July 2019: Pittsburgh Vegan Society

Pittsburgh Vegan Society raises awareness of veganism via creative education, nonviolent advocacy, and social connection in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. In fact, HAP is even co-hosting our “A Prayer for Compassion” movie screening in September with PVA! Thank you to PVA for always having compassion for ALL animals. CompassionWorks International

May 2019: CompassionWorks International

CompassionWorks International advocates for all animals, including those held captive by the entertainment industry, used for medical testing, and slaughtered for fur, skin, and meat. In addition to being one of HAP’s Gold Compassionate Events Partners (meaning all their events are 100% vegan), CWI provided crucial research assistance to HAP in regards to our work to protect circus animals and pass Pennsylvania’s first three laws protecting exotic animals. Hello Bully

April 2019: Hello Bully

Hello Bully is a Pit Bull rescue, but also so much more. They rescue, rehabilitate, and repair the reputation of the American Pit Bull Terrier, while also providing assistance to all companion animals in under-served communities with a goal of reducing overpopulation and preserving the human-animal bond. Hello Bully is a Bronze Compassionate Events partner, meaning they serve only vegetarian food at their events, as they understand it is contradictory to raise money for one animal while supporting the suffering of another. Daisy Wise, President and Founder of Hello Bully, even won Humane Action Pittsburgh’s 2017 Compassionate Living award for her groundbreaking decision to go meat-free at their events! People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

March 2019: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) focuses their attention on animals that suffer the most for intensely long periods of time: in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. They work through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, and legislation. Hope Haven Farm Sanctuary

January 2019: Hope Haven Farm Sanctuary

Hope Haven Farm Sanctuary, a Gold Partner of our Compassionate Events campaign, is an all-vegan organization with the mission to rescue neglected farm animals and allow them to live out their lives with comfortable housing, nutritious food, and companionship. Hope Haven also raises public awareness about the plight of animals raised for food. Rather than focusing on the horrors of factory farming, they showcase the individual and unique personalities of farm animals! They hope that when people realize these animals are sentient and deserve compassion, they’ll adopt a cruelty-free lifestyle, which is something we certainly advocate for here at HAP!
